So, you’ve got the passion. You can braid, blend, and glam with precision. Your friends already call you the go-to for hair, nails, or makeup. But here’s the big question: How do you turn that talent into a career—especially when traditional college feels out of reach and your wallet’s looking… a little thin?
Good news, future beauty pro: You don’t need a trust fund or a 4.0 GPA to chase your dreams. What you do need is the right education, support, and a plan to pay for school in a way that works for you. At American Beauty School (ABS), we are here to help support every student. Our Financial Office can provide guidance and help simplify what may feel like a confusing and scary process.
Let’s Talk About Paying for School
Beauty school is an investment in your future—and for many students, there are financial resources that may help make it more affordable. Here are some general funding options to explore. Financial Aid is available for those who qualify. While ABS cannot determine your Federal Financial Aid eligibility, we can assist you in the application process and help answer questions you may have along the way. Our Financial Office may be able to determine a student’s eligibility for other forms of financial assistance.
Financial Aid Options
At ABS, we understand that financing your education is an important part of your journey. That’s why we offer several financial aid options for those who qualify.
Federal Financial Aid
The first step when looking for Federal Financial Aid is completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). This application helps determine your eligibility for various types of assistance, including grants and loans.
Federal Grants – What You Should Know
Some students may qualify for federal grants, which typically do not require repayment. These funds are awarded based on financial need and other eligibility criteria determined through the FAFSA application. The most common option is the Federal Pell Grants, which helps students cover the cost of tuition and other educational expenses.
Student Loans
For students who need additional assistance, federal student loans may be available. Unlike grants, loans must be repaid with interest, but they often come with lower rates and flexible repayment options compared to private loans. Students can explore Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans, as well as PLUS Loans for parents of dependent students.
Additionally, some banks and credit unions may offer loans that can be used for educational costs and fees.
Important Disclaimer: While ABS offers financial guidance and assistance, we do not offer financial advice and always recommend students do research on any potential loans or aid requested. We can walk you through the steps and provide general information, but we always recommend reviewing loan terms carefully and speaking with a licensed financial advisor for personalized guidance.
Scholarships
In addition to federal aid, ABS encourages students to research scholarship opportunities. Scholarships are typically awarded based on merit, talent, or specific qualifications and—like grants—do not need to be repaid. Our financial aid office can help connect you with available options.
Payment Plans
ABS offers payment plan options for qualified students who may not be able to afford to pay for school upfront. Partnered with Tuition Financing Corporation (TFC), a long-time student account servicer, ABS students who are approved may be placed on a low-interest payment plan. This can help break tuition into manageable payments, again allowing students more flexibility when figuring out how to pay for school.
Be sure to speak directly with the ABS team to explore any available payment arrangements. These are not guaranteed and are handled on a case-by-case basis.
