Everyone’s life journey is unique. Not only do we all have different goals and dreams, we also have different situations, circumstances, and opportunities presented to us. Life can sometimes get in the way of us reaching our goals, but how we respond can make all the difference.

We want you to succeed as you start your beauty world journey, so here are our five tips to finding balance in life and beauty school.

1. Manage Your Time Wisely

Staying organized can help you find and keep that healthy balance in life. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, you can feel empowered and ready to take on the tasks at hand! Our favorite way to manage time wisely is to get a planner and write things down. Physically seeing what you want to accomplish – whether it’s that day, month, or year – can increase your chances of reaching and completing those goals

It can be easy to forget what your goals are, so write them down and look at them often. There are a variety of ways to manage your time wisely. Find one that works for you, and you can feel motivated and ready to complete all your beauty and life goals!

2. Treat Yourself

Life along with school can get busy and when it does we can feel overwhelmed and lose that impulse to stay on track. It happens to the best of us, but there’s a way to turn that lack of motivation and replace it with excitement. We suggest finding time to treat yourself! You deserve a little time to focus on YOU whether it’s physically, mentally, or emotionally. Here are some of our favorites:

  • Sign up for a gym session
  • Take a candle-lit bubble bath
  • Go for some fresh air with a hike, bike ride, or run
  • Give yourself a facial
  • Get your hair done
  • Take a retail therapy trip
  • Get your nails done (DIY or go to a salon)
  • Visit a place around town that you’ve always wanted to see
  • Book a photoshoot for some headshots
  • Read a good book
  • Watch some YouTube tutorials
  • Listen to your favorite music playlist
  • Do something you love (a hobby not related to school)
  • Watch your favorite show on Netflix
  • Have a girl’s night
  • Plan a date night with your significant other

3. Have a Support System

Everyone craves relationships that support, love, and uplift especially during the hard times! Surround yourself and create these relationships. Whether it’s a best friend, significant other, and/or family member(s), having quality time with meaningful relationships is crucial to helping you manage stress. It’s a way to vent, ask for help, feel validated, and de-stress.

Another support system that can help you find balance and decrease stress is a beauty school that is dedicated to helping its students succeed. At American Beauty School, we strive to provide a safe place for everyone through creating a foundation of diversity, success, and innovation.

Whether it’s with us or a different school, we hope you strive to create relationships with fellow students and instructors! It truly is so rewarding to have a supportive beauty school family. Every single person that surrounds you knows a little of what you’re going through, so don’t hesitate to reach out, ask for help, and stay focused on goals. You never know what connections could last even after graduation!

4. It’s All About Perspective

Trying to find balance with school and other areas of your life can be overwhelming. You may wonder what the next step is or if you can ever reach your goals. This is a good indicator to step back and evaluate yourself. Remember why you are where you are! Look at the big picture and remind yourself what your beauty dreams are.

School is a short time yet such a fun and rewarding journey to get you where you want to be and to further your goals. Enjoy the journey and find joy in every step of the way!

5. Give It Your All

We know first-hand that school can be time consuming and difficult, but the experience and skills you can learn can be so beneficial in the long run. Strive to work hard and do your best.

Beauty school is a place of learning. Ask as many questions as you can think of so that you build a solid foundation and prepare yourself for life after school. Strive to keep that focus and passion. Put in the time and effort now and the results can come!
